HMP Wakefield: Fatal Inmate Assault Trial
Three inmates—Mark Fellows (45), David Taylor (64), and Lee Newell (57)—are standing trial at Leeds Crown Court for the murder of 33-year-old Kyle Bevan. Prosecutors allege a coordinated attack occurred on November 4 last year within HMP Wakefield.
Evidence presented by Jason Pitter KC indicates the defendants entered Bevan’s cell and exited approximately four and a half minutes later. The victim sustained over 30 stab wounds to the chest and abdomen, executed with one or more weapons.
The prosecution claims the attackers deliberately positioned Bevan’s body in his bed to simulate sleep, attempting to delay the discovery of the crime. All three defendants deny the charges.
